Charts from Excel Files

Upload an .xlsx or .csv file and turn the rows into an interactive chart you can embed anywhere — a website, a Notion page, a blog post. No formulas, no chart wizard, one line of HTML at the end.

Excel is where the numbers live, and its chart tools are perfectly good for looking at them at your desk. The trouble starts when the chart has to leave the workbook. What you can take out is a picture: a pasted image that cannot be hovered, resized cleanly or restyled, and that has to be regenerated by hand every time a number changes. PlotSet reads the same workbook and gives you a chart that was built to be published — 300-plus templates including maps and animated formats, your own fonts and colours, tooltips on every point, and an embed snippet that behaves like any other element on your page.

Como fazer um gráfico com dados do Excel

Da planilha ao gráfico publicado, passo a passo.

01

Tidy the sheet first

One header row, one row per thing you are charting, one measure per column. Merged cells, blank spacer rows, a totals row at the bottom and two tables stacked on one tab are the four things that will trip the import.

02

Upload the file

Open a template and drop in the .xlsx or .csv. Column types are detected as you import — dates stay dates, numbers stay numbers, and values with thousands separators or currency symbols are parsed rather than treated as text.

03

Or paste the range instead

Select the cells including the header row, copy, and paste straight into the data grid. Quicker than exporting when you only need part of a large workbook.

04

Bind the columns to the chart

Tell the template which column holds the labels and which holds the values. Every template states what it expects, so this is usually two dropdowns.

05

Style it once

Set the palette, fonts and number formatting. These are chart settings rather than workbook settings, so they survive every data update and every re-upload.

06

Publish and copy the embed

Publishing gives you a live URL and a one-line iframe snippet. Paste it into your CMS, your docs or your site and the interactive chart renders in place.

O que você ganha além dos gráficos do Excel

  • The chart is publishable, not a screenshot

A live embed with tooltips, plus PNG, SVG and PDF export at any size. What comes out of Excel for the web is a bitmap that was never meant to be a web page's chart.

  • Chart types Excel does not have

Choropleth and symbol maps by county or country, sankey diagrams, treemaps, bump charts, marimekko, animated bar chart races. Around 300 templates in total.

  • It looks like your brand, not like Office

Your fonts, your palette, your number formats — set once on the chart and applied everywhere it is embedded. No more nudging a legend into place after every refresh.

  • The workbook stays the source of truth

PlotSet holds a copy of the rows you brought over. Your calculations, pivots and models stay in Excel, where they belong.

O que isto não faz

  • It reads values, not formulas

What arrives is the calculated result. That is normally what a chart wants, but it means recalculation still happens in Excel and a re-upload is how the chart hears about it.

  • One rectangular table per chart

PlotSet imports a single range with a header row. Multi-tab workbooks, merged headers spanning two rows and pivot-table output all need flattening first.

  • There is no live link to the file

Charts do not watch a workbook on your drive or in OneDrive for changes. Updating a published chart means re-uploading or re-pasting the new rows.

  • Excel-specific formatting does not travel

Conditional formatting, cell colours and custom number masks stay in the workbook. Formatting for the chart is set on the chart, which is also why it survives the next upload.
